Overview

Around 65 rivers run freely through Burma, and each plays an important role in everyday Burmese life. One of the most spectacular is the Chindwin River, which flows 1,200 kilometers south from the northeastern border with India before emptying into the vast Ayeyarwady. The Chindwin is a pristine natural gem of scenery and life that has altered little through the years. Teak trees, vibrant green mountains, mystery pagodas, and little villages dot the coastline.
