Full Itinerary

Day 1

Yangon arrival (D)

Activities: Yangon arrival, visit Kandawgyi Park, Shwedagon pagoda, and have dinner in a Burmese restaurant.

You will be picked up by a Tour Guide and Car Driver at Yangon International Airport and then transferred to the hotel for check-in. The room is at your disposal from 14.00 onwards.

After that, we will pay a visit to Kandawgyi Park, a famous place in Yangon. Here you will enjoy the serene atmosphere of the large lake, home to many different kinds of beautiful flowers and rare animals as well as watch the glittering Karaweik barge and especially have a good view of the Shwedagon pagoda.

The next visit is to Shwedagon Pagoda, the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar. You will immerse in the shimmering landscape of Shwedagon pagoda, which is a magnificent golden pagoda on the top of Singuttara Hill. It is said that this pagoda is dated back to 2500 years ago and it stored the hair relics of the Buddha. Now, it becomes one of the most spectacular religious architecture in the world as well as the pride of Myanmar.

Have a delicious welcome dinner in Burmese Restaurant.

Day 2

Yangon - Orcaella embarkation (B, L, D)

Activities: Journey on Board Belmond Orcaella to Bagan.

You will experience an excellent journey on Board the Belmond Orcaella River cruise. Enjoy a relaxing lunch as you begin your cruise to Bagan. You can admire the magnificent prospect of small villages and farms along the bank of the Ayeyarwady River.

During the journey, you will also enjoy fascinating lectures about the old buildings. Especially, you have a chance to attend a welcome cocktail party before dinner and listen to an introductory part of the ship’s officers from the Executive Chef and team.

Day 3

Activities: Visit Danuphyu town, General Maha Bandulamemorial at Pali University, a cheroot maker, and a local teashop. Enjoy traditional Myanmar folk dancing.

Have breakfast and start discovering the remote town of Danuphyu which is known for its historic fierce defense against the British during the first Anglo-Burmese War.

You will visit Pali University to contemplate the memorial of General Maha Bandula, a celebrated national hero. Continue the trip to a cheroot-making workshop where traditional cheroot cigars are made and local tea shops.

Back on board, you will enjoy a tea break and listen to a lecture on Burmese poets and writers.

Following dinner, the performance of traditional Myanmar folk dance brings you wonderful moments after a full day of cruising.

Day 4

Activities: Relaxing on board with several activities.

Today is free at leisure on board for relaxing on the way cruising to Pyay. You can see the view or listen to the sound of the river. Besides, you can find a range of entertainment on the board to ensure the trip is comfortable such as cookery, astrology, and “longyi” (traditional dress) performance. Especially, you can try wearing the dress of “longyi” at this evening cocktail party before dinner.

Day 5

Activities: Pyay arrival, visit Shwesadaw pagoda, Sri Ksetra. Enjoy the afternoon in Board Belmond Orcaella.

Arriving at Pyay, we visit Shwesadaw Pagoda, one of the most important pilgrimage locations for Buddhists in Burma. Here you will also see the ten-story high statue of Buddha in Sri Ksetra.

Transfer back to Board Belmond Orcaella for the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the beautiful landscapes while cruising.

Day 6

Activities: Visit Gwechaung village, have dinner at Min Hla Fort

After spending the whole morning sailing, we will visit the ancient Gwechaung village in the afternoon by ox-cart to explore the daily life of locals in the countryside along the banks of the Ayeyarwady River.

In the evening, you will have a nice dinner at Min Hla Fort, the historic site associated with a major battle in the Third Anglo-Burmese War.

Day 7

Activities: Arrive at the trade port of Magwe, Myathalon pagoda, and enjoy the Myanmar puppet show.

Arriving at the trade port of Magwe in the morning, we continue your trip to the traditional market by tuk-tuk tour. It will be an excellent experience. Then, you will admire the sacred beauty of the Myathalon pagoda which is built on the edge of the steep bank of the Ayeyarwady River at Magwe.

You will have a further afternoon to relax on the board with a tea break. Additionally, you also have a great opportunity to witness a unique tradition, the Myanmar puppet show following the dinner. In legend, puppet drama appeared in the eleventh century; it educates people and highlights the social affairs of the people in Burma.

Day 8

Activities: Visit the monastery Yout-Saun-Kyaung, visit some highlights of Bagan and have lunch in Sunset Garden.

Start a wonderful day by the trip to Sale in the morning in order to contemplate the teak-built monastery Yout-Saun-Kyaung which was built in 1882 AD and located on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Surely, you will be attracted by the impressive sculptures woodcarvings as well as its architecture.

After that, continue the trip by bus to the highlighted destinations of Bagan. Lunch will be severed at Sunset Garden Restaurant in Bagan, which has a beautiful view over the river.

Day 9

Activities: Transfer to Bagan, visit Shwezigon Pagoda, local market, Min Nan Thu village, discover Gu Byauk Gyi and Pwa Saw village, or travel around the city by horse or bicycle.

This day is really interesting with a morning tour of Bagan. Visit the Shwezigon Pagoda, which is the holiest pagoda in Bagan, known as a center of prayers and commenced by King Anawrahta during the 11th century. Continue the trip to the local market and Min Nan Thu village where you can experience a simple life with friendly people.

The afternoon excursion is wonderful with two activities that you can choose from yourself. The first choice, you will visit Gu Byauk Gyi and Paw Saw villages, the concentration of ancient temples in Bagan. Another choice, you will enjoy an interesting time when traveling around the city by horse, cart or bicycle.
