Full Itinerary

Day 1

Mandalay – Kyaukme

Meals: N/A

Activities: Travel to Kyaukme, walk around the town, and discover its unique architecture.

This morning, set off your journey from Mandalay to Kyauk Me- a quiet market town which is located on the road and rail routes between Mandalay and Lashio. Although often overlooked, it is certainly worth a visit, with some fine colonial-era buildings, a busy local market, and numerous trekking options in the nearby hills.

Your scenic way is filled with lush fields and towering mountains. After reaching the region, take a short walk around the town for absorbing the rustic atmosphere and discovering its unique architecture.

Lunch and dinner on own account. Overnight stay in Kyaukme.

Day 2

Kyauk Me – Kyein Law – Don Heik – Hu Sun (B, L, D)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Activities: Take a tuk-tuk to cross Mine Dine village and Loi Gon, trek to Hu Kwat village, stop at Hu Sun village and watch the sunset on the upper hill.

After breakfast, take a tuk-tuk north for 2 hours drive which crosses Mine Dine village and Loi Gon- a stopover point. Take your time to immerse yourself in the views of the village while sipping a cup of tea. After leaving the main road, set off your trekking to Hu Kwat village.

The winding paths will lead you to the village of Hu Sun. After reaching the village, a local family will welcome you for a night.  Take a leisurely walk in this beautiful village and continue onto the upper hill for a nice sunset.

Day 3

Hu Sun – Loi Lon – Kyauk Me (B, L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Activities: Trek to Loi Lon, Bang San, NaunPyaet and Hu Kwat, take a tuktuk to Ban Lin and Naung Sin, drive to Kyauk Me.

After a warm local breakfast with your host, continue to trek south to Loi Lon from which take a 30-minute trek on a flat trail to Bang San. Spend some time here for a cup of tea before reaching NaunPyaet where you enjoy lunch in a local house.

After lunch and a short break, continue your journey to Hu Kwat. From there, take a tuk-tuk and make your way to Ban Lin and Naung Sin before driving south to Kyauk Me. If time permits, you get a chance to observe the daily life of the locals on a lovely bamboo bridge.

Day 4

Kyauk Me – Pyin Oo Lwin (B, L)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Activities: Stroll around the morning market, transfer to the train station, and take a train journey through a deep gorge to Pyin Oo Lwin.

After breakfast, take a stroll around the morning market- where you can find the bustling atmosphere of the locals flocking together to sell and buy their fresh produce. Afterward, continue transferring to the train station where you start your amazing train trip. The scenic journey crosses the famous Gokteik Viaduct which spans a 300-meter deep gorge in the Shan mountains. The views from the train are spectacular, so be sure to have your camera ready. In the afternoon, you will arrive in Pyin Oo Lwin. Located about 67 kilometers east of Mandalay, Pyin Oo Lwin(May Myo)- “The City of Flowers” is known for its different species and colorful flowers. Pyin Oo Lwin is also well known for its colonial-style houses with large compound and pine trees, and unique horse carriages in town.

Day 5

Pyin Oo Lwin – Mandalay (B)

Meals: Breakfast

Activities: Take a horse cart through town, visit the brick and timber houses, and local market, stop at Botanical Gardens, transfer to Mandalay

This morning, you will have the opportunity to take a traditional horse cart and carriage ride through town- a unique experience like no other. Take your time to visit the brick and timber houses. Don’t miss out on the local market where you can admire a wide range of beautiful flowers and fresh green vegetables.

Perhaps, it is the most animated and bustling area in the city. Make a stop at Botanical Gardens - which was turned into the National Botanical Garden with a total acres of 240. Preserved by the Ministry of Forestry, the Garden now has great landscaping and scenic view. Afterward, take another 2-hour road transfer to Mandalay.
