This morning, your full-day tour will begin when you are picked up by our driver and guide from your own booked hotel in Mandalay.

Today, your first waypoint is the Mahamuni Pagoda, home to one of the most revered Buddha figures in the nation, completely wrapped in gold leaves. Everyday, this site is visited by a large number of visitors willing to cover the Buddha figures with gold leaves, yet only men take the responsibility of doing so. The marble street, where every family carves marble, runs next to the Mahamuni Pagoda. Additionally, there is a house nearby that produces bronze sculpture.

The fabled U-Bein Bridge, constructed in 1782 when Amarapura was the Royal Capital, is the next destination on our route to Amarapura. The longest teakwood bridge in the world is this 1,2 km long span across Taungthaman Lake. This location is particularly breathtaking at sunrise and sunset, therefore there will be a huge throng there. The next waypoint is the Mahagandayon Monastery, a residence for more than a thousand young monks as well as a center for rigorous religious restriction. The monks have lunch at 11 a.m. every day, so if you happen to be there then, you will have a great opportunity to observe the throngs of monks waiting in line for the meal. What a fantastic time!

Many traditional crafts, including the creation of gold leaf, wood carvings, tapestries, and marionettes, are also produced in Mandalay. You can make a stop to go to one of these workshops if you want to learn more about the regional crafts.

Kuthodaw Pagoda, often known as “The World’s Biggest Book”, is a desirable waypoint that you should not miss. This Pagoda house includes 729 marble slabs, which are used to engrave the Buddhist teachings that will help them pass from this life to the next. Located close by is the Shwenandaw Monastery, the only relic of the 19th-century Royal Palace. Because it was entirely plated in gold, it was also known as the Golden Monastery. The intricate wood carvings are the main attraction at this monastery.

If you have the time, you may want to drive to Mandalay Hill for a stunning sunset view of the city before returning to your hotel. Dinner and lunch are on your own.
