Day 1

BAGAN

Check-in time is at 11:00 AM at Koe Lone Ye Kin Jetty. Then the ship will leave at 11:30 AM. Welcomed by the hotel staff with a refreshing drink. The lunch will follow shortly.
AFTERNOON TOUR: BAGAN
Start the afternoon with a visit to Htilominlo which was built by the king of the same name. Then, visit the famous Ananda Temple which is one of the oldest temples in Bagan that still retains most of it original state and contain the four Buddha images that face north, south, east, west. Final pagoda of the day is the Dhammayangyi Pagoda the biggest pagoda here for some photos and lastly is the viewing hill for the spectacular view of the plain.

MORNING TOUR: Bagan
The morning excursion begins with the glimmering Shwezigon Pagoda built under the rule of King Anawrahta who signed the beginning of the Buddhism in the country. Continue to Htilominlo which was built by the king of the same name. Final stop of the morning is the Thatbyinnyu Pagoda – the tallest monument in the Bagan plain – for some photos before going back to the ship.

Day 3

AMARAPURA

This afternoon, by coach, we will reach Amarapura later to a silk weaving workshop and finally U-Bein Bridge just in time for sunset.

SAGAING-MANDALAY-MINGUN

The afternoon will begin with a trip to Sagaing Hill – the heart of Buddhism in Myanmar – that contains many religious monuments and houses thousands of monks and nuns. Next on the agenda is Mahamuni Pagoda with the impressive gilt Buddha Image. Continue to the gold leaf making and marble carving workshop nearby.
AFTERNOON TOUR: Mingun
This afternoon, leave the ship for a light walking trip through the town of Mingun. First visit of the day is the unfinished stupa of King Bodawpaya due to a fortune that say upon completion the king would die. If the monument had been finished, it would be the largest pagoda in the world. Continue strolling to Mingun Bell one of the largest bell in the world that can be rung. Along the way, you can browse the countless vendors for some paintings or keychains.

KYAUK MYAUNG

MORNING TOUR: Ngwe Nyein Pottery Village
After breakfast, start the day to the Ngwe Nyein Village famous for their pottery and the old but rapid method that help them build the 50 galloon pots. After this brief visit, we will sail all afternoon.

TIGYANG

Spend the whole day sailing on board.
AFTERNOON TOUR: Tigyang
Leave the ship briefly this afternoon for a stroll through the small dirt road to visit the village of Tigyang. After a throughout visit to the village, take a hike uphill to visit a reclining Buddha while taking a elevated view from the hillside.
Return back on board to spend the night.

KATHA

MORNING TOUR: Elephant Camp
Begin the day with the trip to Katha Elephan Logdging camp on a secluded part of the forest. This former warehouse and transportation point now serves the new purpose of sanctuary for elephants and their Mahouts with the help of the government. From this camp, you can have the chance to bathe and feed and learn more about the life of these precious and endangered animals. After an informative morning, return back to the ship for lunch.
AFTERNOON: Sailing
The afternoon will be for sailing to Naung Po Village which is near the starting point of the 2nd Defile. Here you will spend the night.

Day 8

SECOND DEFILE - KYUN DAW - KATHA

MORNING TOUR: 2nd Defile of the Irrawaddy & Kyun Daw
Early birds can admire the sunrise, as it glimmers between the gorges. Sail upstream through the Second Defile with its magnificent landscapes. After passing, we will return back for the journey downstream.
En route, we stop at the Kyun Daw Island where a small village resides and thousands of stupas and pagodas dotted all through the island. Visit the school and interact with the locals here.
Back to the ship for Lunch.
AFTERNOON TOUR: Katha
The afternoon we reach the Katha the charming colonial town where you can find the old ships of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company ships are abandoned, old house of Gorge Orwell’s, old teak trading port. If lucky, you can find the Kata ethnics here when we visit the local market.

1. River Conditions Warning

The Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers are subject to seasonal rises and falls of water level. So that an alternative itinerary will be offered to Passenger in the case of water levels being too high or low.

Published itineraries are indication only and subject to sudden change. In such events alternative itineraries will be provided and we do our best to ensure that if a stop is missed we make up for it with another stop.

The ship’s manager and captain are jointly responsible for passengers’ comfort and safety.

Passengers must accept their decisions and instructions.

2. Deposit

To secure the booking a 30% deposit is required at the time of confirmation. The remaining balance will be made 70 days prior departure date.

If a booking is made less than 70 days, full fare payment must be made within 48 hours.

3. Cancellation Terms

The cancellation notice must be received in writing either by e-mail or fax. It will be effective on the date of receipt. Cancellation charges, per person, are based upon the date of cancellation:

  • Up to 71 days prior to departure: Deposit will be forfeited.
  • From 70-35 days: 50% of cruise fare
  • From 34 days to “no show”: 100% of cruise fare

4. Children Policy

Up to 2 years: Complimentary in the parent/guardian’s cabin.

3-12 Years: if the child stays in the cabin with one of the parents/guardians 50% of the twin-sharing rate. Upon request we can provide an Extra Bed at US$ 90 net per bed/ night.

5. Minimum Occupancy

For all departures should the occupancy be less than 10 passengers for Short Discovery Cruise and 12 passengers for Exploration and Discovery Cruises the Company reserves the right to cancel the cruise up to 60 days prior the departure date. A confirmation notice in writing will be released by the company to all booked clients and/or their agents within the deadline. In case of cancellation an alternative cruise will be offered and if not acceptable all down payments will be immediately refunded.

6. Insurance

We strongly advise travelers to purchase trip cancellation insurance. We also highly recommend guests to get international medical, baggage loss and delay insurance in the case of bad situations. Paukan Cruise will take no responsibility for lost or stolen personal belongings.
